We recognize the lack of understanding towards traditional treatments, and also its significant role in healthcare and wellness amongst different communities.
At Crew of Care, we advocate for better recognition and integration of traditional medicine. We aim to bridge the gap between modern treatment ensuring that all patients receive respectful and comprehensive care.
Through our efforts promoting truth and reconciliation via our educational workshops and programs, cultural diversity is highlighted as our core value.
Cultural appreciation is essential in future healthcare and we work towards a system where every individual’s cultural beliefs are valued.
Multicultural Approach
Spreading awareness and educating others is one of our core approaches to tackle the lack of cultural reconciliation and ongoing systemic racism amongst marginalized communities.
Crew of Care aims to raise awareness and foster activism through social media platforms, bringing the issues to the forefront of public consciousness.
We integrate educational workshops that dive into different cultural histories to promote understanding and foster an environment of mutual respect.
Through our initiatives we strive to break the cycle of generational ignorance and encourage a more inclusive society.
We believe that building relationships is one of the most important parts to work towards an inclusive society.
That's why Crew of Care always looks to work together with communities in need to tackle issues that threaten health equity.
For communities in need, we will not act as a provider, but instead an allied partner.
Converging towards a multi-dimensional approach for our charity, we adjust to their needs and values rather than coerce the typical. Crew of Care is not an organization that simply provides financial aid for ones in need, but an organization that works with a holistic solution for the future of healthcare.
Our Values
Crew of Care (COC) is a student-led, non-profit NGO dedicated to minimizing medical inequality for the Indigenous population in Canada. More specifically, the Indigenous population of Kingston and the surrounding areas for the Queen’s chapter. Based on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC)’s 2015 94 Calls to Action, we will:
Work to assist ongoing Indigenous medical crises around Canada through fundraising and material support for affected communities.
Encouraging fellow students at Queen’s BHSc and beyond to learn and recognize Indigenous health disparities, intergenerational effects of colonization on healthcare, and how it continues to influence prejudice and discrimination within the healthcare system today
Advocate for the recognition and usage of traditional Indigenous healing practices within healthcare
Protect pillars of Truth and Reconciliation, including but not limited to child welfare, education, language and culture, health, and justice.

What We Do
Crew of Care is a student-led, non-profit NGO dedicated to minimizing medical inequality for the Indigenous peoples of Canada. Aiming to improve access to healthcare services for communities in need, we've initiated a variety of collaborations to promote awareness through activism. We focus on addressing the issues of insufficient resources and cultural insensitivity.
Looking ahead, Crew of Care plans to expand its reach through partnering with local Indigenous groups and host educational workshops to raise awareness and more importantly understand the cultural differences. Through advocating for community engagement, Crew of Care aspires to ensure that healthcare is a right accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic barriers.
